Dear friends, hello again!
I'm continuing my big and light-weight foam RC aircraft column, so here are the stages of building the legendary Yak-52. I'm not claiming perfection, this one is going to be a semi-replica.

Unbricking TURNIGY ACCUCEL 6 80W

Hi everybody!
One day I decided to reflash my charger. I downloaded an archive from this page: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uploads/1019411227X1816993X33.zip
The archive contains DFU firmware and two firmware images: the original version 1.13 and a patched one, which does not require a balance connector. I chose the patched one.
I did it all as written in the manual: open the file, typed in VID 0x0000, PID 0x0001, click UPGRADE...
Briefly, I did it at work on a laptop with a bad USB port.
Well, it didn't go through. The laptop wouldn't detect it.
I've got a brick :(

Modifying battery cell circuit.

In this article I’m going to describe how I modified the battery cell circuit for a TGY 5000 6S. Recently, a European Hobbyking retailer sold out these batteries, but they wouldn’t do unmodified, because all my equipment designed for 3S. Another problem was that there were no batteries with capacity that could meet my voltage requirements, and I couldn’t physically or financially afford to buy a whole batch of different ones. Therefore, I decided to buy these batteries and tailor them to my equipment. Please, do not comment on how correct my decision was, let it be on my conscience :))

I haven't made any new models last winter. I mostly repaired and renewed the old stuff. I also had bad luck breaking one of my little model favorites - "orange" Yak-3. The fault was mine: I hurried and failed while configuring the remote control. Despite the confused controlling I managed to save the plane from a full-force nosedive, but the foam wing spar didn't survive such treatment...
Was there any sense repairing it? It would require a new wing though, besides the replacement traces would be noticable. And where there is a wing, there is everything else...
Such thoughts led me to make a relatively similar but new model.

Upgrading Turnigy 9X8Cv2 receiver

Hello, dear colleagues!

Just a couple of days ago I did a little upgrade to my 250-size copter. I decided to supplement it with a sonar and a GPS receiver. However, I realized that the Naze32 flight controller had too few unoccupied legs, when I was connecting the receiver in parallel-PWM mode… That was hardly a big issue, and it could be solved easily by installing a PPM-Sum module. AliExpress and other stores are crowded with them, but waiting another month did not sound like an attractive option to me, and the all-go-know Google suggested that it could be made of an Arduino (which I had galore) by way of a few simple soldering manipulations...

My two-dollar Arduino Nano RC key.

Hello, everybody! I’m here to present my own RC key, which I connect to the receiver, so that I can control heavy load. I saw different versions on tiny13 and atmega328, and I realized that a Tiny13 would be too low on memory and it could put me through a lot of nickeling and diming; an Atmega328 would cost me almost as much as an Arduino Nano. I also wanted a simple and familiar Arduino IDE, so I’d be able to quickly reflash it via USB.

I decided to make it open source and give other users an opportunity to build and modify it to suit their needs. I chose a two-dollar Arduino Nano microcontroller, the smallest one.

Pete n Poke made of ceiling tiles.

Hi there! Once I came across the model of a parasol two-sitter «Pete n Poke». It was made of balsa with glow-engine.

I was eager to make it myself but out of ceiling tiles. I decided to cover it with tracing paper on an aqua lacquer base and paint with acrylic spray to make the outline look nicer. It should be noted that I didn't plan to copy it. I simply wanted to make a nice retro model. The motor used was brushless TURNIGY NTM Prop Drive Series 28-36 1200 RPM.

Wing spread chosen was 1100 mm, fuselage length – 938 mm. I scaled it and changed the drawning due to the usage of ceiling tiles.

Polikarpov Po-2 - the Heavenly Slug

Now that I have crafted a dozen of ceiling tile models, it is about time for me to build a big chugger with a trail of smoke behind it! Without much hesitation I chose a legendary WWII vet – the Polikarpov Po-2. I wanted to be honest, so I decided to build it from wood and cover it with doped fabric and try not to overweight it. Also, I wanted to test my DIY CNC. I hammered at drafts a little, which I had fished out of the web (those were just common views from three angles) and started sawing.
